the mayor's thames festival

Today a group of us hopped on the underground, crossed over the Thames, and wandered around the Thames Festival. The current mayor of London created this free music festival that spans along Southbank to commemorate the end of summer - and himself I think (hence "The Mayor's Thames Festival").

There were a ton of people. Probably more realistically two tons of people. Massive amounts of people. And plenty of ethnic food booths, vintage clothing stalls and local crafts. A few stages were set up where various performances take place throughout the day. It was windy - the weather forecast said to be on the watch for gales - a word I had previously only heard about in literature. California does not have gales. Nonetheless it only sprinkled a bit on our way to the tube station, and the rest of the afternoon was spent dry and windblown.
