Our gracious, generous tour guides Jason and Bonnie Len! |
Trafalgar Square. |
"Britain's most climbed upon monuments." |
Our tour guide Matthew. Who resembled a weird hybrid of Beatles John and Ringo. |
Castle built by King Henry VIII for his queen Anne Boleyn. Too bad he beheaded her before she got a chance to live in it... |
Green Park. Apparently "green" because a queen once caught her husband king picking flowers for his mistress in this park, and ordered all flowers removed. |
Lady Peace. |
Westminster Abbey. |
Houses of Parliament. |
The passageway to the Tower of London via the Thames (that has since been sealed closed). |
Tower Bridge. |
Tower Bridge from an open air river cruise. |
On the London Eye!!! Such a cool experience!!! Can you see my excitement? |
We literally watched a rainstorm move over the city... |
Watching a rainstorm from up in the air. |
Westminster Tower after the storm. |
The Thames once the rain cloud passed. Such finicky London weather! |
At this point my camera batteries died -- but we continued on foot past Downing Street and saw where the Prime Minister lives (so cool!) and ambled back through Trafalgar Square. We found our way to Covent Gardens, meandered through stoned streets lined with shops, and settled down for dinner in Chinatown. The crab and corn soup was exactly what we needed to warm ourselves up! After dinner we walked through Piccadilly Circus, and said goodbye to the Lens. It was such a full, adventurous day filled with things I never would have been able to do on my own. Thank you Jason and Bonnie!
